BIFOLD welcomes Israel delegation

Presentations on the theoretical foundations of deep learning

On July 10, 2023, the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) hosted a delegation from several Israeli universities, including Tel Aviv University, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, University of Haifa, Bar Ilan University, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The visit was part of the "Willkommen" Visitors Programme of the Federal Republic of Germany, organized by the Goethe-Institut on behalf of the Federal Foreign Office. Various BIFOLD researchers showcased their AI research projects and recent results. BIFOLD director Prof. Dr. Klaus-Robert Müller, as well as Prof. Dr. Guiseppe Caire and Prof. Dr. Konrad Rieck gave presentations on the theoretical foundations of deep learning and its real-world applications. We very much enjoyed the opportunity to introduce our guests to the vibrant AI ecosystem in Berlin.

The "Willkommen" Visitors Programme invites foreign opinion leaders to experience Germany firsthand and gain a nuanced understanding of the country. Typically, participants spend a week in Germany at the invitation of the Federal Foreign Office. During the recent "welcome" tour, the delegation had the opportunity to visit various stations including the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, K.I.E.Z. AI and the Merantix AI Campus.
