Varun Pandey is a Post-Doc at Database Systems and Information Management (DIMA), TU Berlin. He received his PhD from the Technical University of Munich, Germany. Prior to joining TU Munich, he was a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) at Oracle. He was part of the Distributed Lock Management team in Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC). He obtained his masters and bachelors degree in computer science from IIT Kharagpur and College of Engineering Roorkee respectively. He has also interned with IBM and Microsoft Research Labs. His main research interest lies in geo-distributed data management, and cloud-edge query processing. Previously he has worked (and still retains interest) in (geo-)spatial query processing, multi-dimensional indexing, and applying machine learning to database internals.
