Working Field: The Database Systems and Information Management (DIMA) Group conducts basic and applied research in data management, big data, and data science in conjunction with the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data - BIFOLD at TU Berlin in the following areas: (1) Technologies and systems for the management and processing of massive amounts of distributed data, (2) scalable data analytics infrastructures that exploit the hardware-software co-design of components for data storage, search, data processing, community management, and market mechanisms, including security, pricing, and privacy, and (3) technologies and systems for responsible data management that ensures data science processes are transparent, repeatable, and traceable.

Job description

Independent conception, procurement, implementation, administration, maintenance and further development of the complex IT environment, IT services and the data and analysis infrastructure of the Department of Database Systems and Information Management and associated IT third-party funded projects with TU external impact and IT support for more than 50 users from the scientific and administrative environment.

Independent and autonomous planning, conception, procurement, further development, commissioning and administration of a special data and analysis infrastructure for the management of big data with highly complex IT hardware under the Linux operating system.

Independent maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, troubleshooting and further development of the existing special servers for processing big data (several clusters) under the Linux operating system as well as the existing desktop workstations, peripherals and presentation technology.

Independent conception, procurement with preparation of necessary service specifications and awarding, commissioning and administration of the necessary infrastructure for third-party funded projects (e.g. BIFOLD-BBDC, Bigearth.net ...).

Supporting and ensuring teaching at the DIMA chair with a high practical component, independent installation and administration of DB2/Mysql database servers, version management, mailing lists, video technology, web services.
