Klaus-Robert Müller Among Top 20 Computer Scientists Worldwide

BIFOLD co-director ranked among the world's leading Computer Scientists in Research.com 2026 edition

BIFOLD Co-Director Prof. Dr. Klaus-Robert Müller has been ranked 20 worldwide and 3 in Germany in the 2026 Edition of Research.com's Ranking of Best Scientists in Computer Science. He has also been honored with the 2026 Research.com Computer Science in Germany Leader Award, the fourth time he has received this distinction, following recognitions in 2022, 2023, and 2025.

The annual ranking by the academic platform Research.com is based on the Discipline H-index (D-index), a citation-based metric that evaluates scientific impact within a specific field. Only researchers with a D-index of at least 30 in computer science are considered. Prof. Müller's profile records a D-index of 161, based on 753 publications and 140,992 citations.

The German ranking currently lists 686 scientists in Germany as "Best Computer Science Scientists 2026." Of these, 23 are affiliated with TU Berlin. Among them are BIFOLD Co-Director Volker Markl (ranked 158th), as well as BIFOLD Research Group Leaders such as Begüm Demir (ranked 569th) and BIFOLD Fellows including Odej Kao (ranked 630th), Jean-Pierre Seifert (ranked 199th), Manfred Hauswirth (ranked 167th), and Wojciech Samek (ranked 87th).
