BIFOLD is one of six AI research centers of excellence that receive permanent funding from the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) and the BErlin Senate. For the Database Systems and Information Management research group, headed by Professor Volker Markl, who serves both as head of the research group and as Director of the BIFOLD Institute, we are seeking an Assistant to the Head of the Research Group / BIFOLD Director.
Your Responsibilities
- Independently manage the research group’s administrative offices, including all administrative tasks such as budget monitoring, invoice processing, and purchasing
- Manage third-party funding
- Handle personnel-related matters
- Coordinate tasks related to teaching and student administration
- Provide support for international visiting researchers
- Organize meetings and conferences
- Communicate with an international team, primarily in English
Your Qualifications
- Successfully completed training as an administrative specialist, office management specialist, or equivalent professional qualification; applicants with comparable skills and experience are also welcome
- Experience in administration, finance, and personnel matters, ideally in a university setting
- Broad administrative and professional knowledge
- Strong IT skills, particularly proficiency with Microsoft Office, as well as the ability and willingness to learn additional software programs and database systems
- Very good German and English language skills required, with a willingness to acquire proficiency in either language if needed
- Strong ability to work as part of a team is an advantage
- Knowledge of university administration is an advantage
- Knowledge of SAP is desirable
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and an enthusiasm for communication are an advantage
- Independent approach to work and a high degree of organizational ability are an advantage
- Strong service orientation, as well as a high level of teamwork and interpersonal skills, is an advantage
