Doctoral Reseacher
Haralampos Gavriilidis received his M.Sc degree at TU Berlin, where he specialized in big (and small) data management systems. His master thesis was about combining scale-out with scale-up data management techniques. During his studies, he worked at DIMA and DFKI/IAM as a research assistant, contributing to a compiler infrastructure that enables execution of declarative data analysis programs on hardware-accelerated query engines. Before he worked as a full-stack web developer, crafting custom content management systems and web applications.

PolyDB - Efficient and Effective Query Processing for Federated Data Analytics
To create valuable insights, today’s organizations integrate and analyze data from multiple database systems. State of the art approaches for data integration assume that data can be centralized in a single place, the so-called mediator, which also leads to performance bottlenecks. In this project we propose a decentralized query processing model where individual database systems collaboratively carry out data integration and analysis tasks, without requiring a central mediator.
