Thank you for joining BIFOLD’s Spring Reception
On April 30, 2025, BIFOLD celebrated BIFOLD Day 2025 - welcoming researchers, policymakers, and industry representatives at the Forum Digitale Technologien in Berlin. Over 200 guests from academia, business, and society gathered to celebrate another year of impactful foundational research and collaboration in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Science. We sincerely thank all participants who contributed to the event's success. Special appreciation goes to our distinguished speakers: Dr. Ina Czyborra (Senator for Higher Education and Research, Health and Long-Term Care), Dr. Tina Klüwer (BMBF, Head of Department for Research on Technological Sovereignty and Innovation), and Prof. Dr. Matthias Bethge (Director Tübingen AI), whose keynote on "Cosmopolitan AI" provided a compelling vision for the future of global AI research.
The day began with parallel tutorials on core AI topics, including Data Visualization, Efficient Data Loading, Machine Learning with PyTorch-Geometric, and Natural Language Processing. These sessions offered valuable hands-on knowledge to BIFOLD researchers and partners. We extend our gratitude to Stefan Halfpap, Haralampos Gavriilidis, Lukas Pirch, and Stephanie Brandl for their contributions.
The Spring Reception featured highlights from 2024, including the "Best of BIFOLD" presentation, showcasing contributions by Fatemeh Ahmadi ('MaTElDa – Data Cleaning') and Stefan Grafberger ('Making ML Pipelines More Fair, Robust, and Reliable'). In closing, BIFOLD co-director Prof. Dr. Volker Markl provided a forward-looking perspective on the institute's upcoming goals and ongoing projects.
