EDBT 2026 Conference Contributions

The EDBT/ICDT 2026 Joint Conference will take place from March 24 to 27, 2026, in Tampere, Finland. As an established and prestigious forum for the exchange of the latest research results in data management, EDBT brings together database researchers, practitioners, developers, and users to explore new ideas, techniques, and tools, and to exchange experiences.

This year, BIFOLD is represented by three research groups: the DAMS group, led by Prof. Dr. Matthias Böhm, the DEEM group, led by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Schelter, and the DIMA group, led by Prof. Dr. Volker Markl. The DAMS and DIMA group contribute seven works to the conference program, comprising three research papers, three demo papers, and one workshop paper, reflecting BIFOLD's broad and active engagement in cutting-edge data management research.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Schelter serves as Workshop Chair alongside Prof. Dr. Angela Bonifati. Furthermore, BIFOLD Prof. Dr. Matthias Böhm will participate as a panelist in the Young Researcher Symposium, which addresses the rapidly shifting career landscape for database researchers in the age of AI. The panel brings together researchers and practitioners to share first-hand experiences on job seeking and career development, and will offer Ph.D. students and junior researchers concrete guidance on navigating academia and industry in a field where the boundaries between database systems, machine learning, and applied AI are increasingly blurred.

Below is an overview of BIFOLD's contributions:

CAMEO: Autocorrelation-Preserving Line Simplification for Lossy Time Series Compression. Carlos Enrique Muñiz-Cuza, Matthias Boehm, Torben Bach Pedersen.
