Starting at the end of October 2025, Prof. Dr. Christian Wressnegger will become a Junior Fellow of the Berlin Institute for the Foundation of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) / Technische Universität Berlin.
BIFOLD selected Wressnegger for the excellence of his research and his strong academic profile in computer science. His work demonstrates exceptional potential for advancing BIFOLD’s mission of connecting machine learning, data management, and related research areas. As a Junior Fellow, he will contribute to a broad range of interdisciplinary topics and foster new collaborations within the BIFOLD community.
The BIFOLD Junior Fellowship program offers outstanding researchers the opportunity to collaborate closely with BIFOLD scientists. Fellows can apply for or participate as partners in Agility Projects, which enable the rapid exploration of innovative research ideas and strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation.
About Prof. Dr. Christian Wressnegger
Christian Wressnegger is a Professor of Computer Science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where he leads the Artificial Intelligence and Security research group. He earned his PhD from TU Braunschweig and graduated from Graz University of Technology with a degree in computer science.
His research explores the intersection of machine learning and computer security, developing methods for system and application security, such as techniques for attack detection and software vulnerability discovery. Moreover, he investigates the robustness of machine learning systems against adversarial attacks, striving for what he calls secure AI. A particular focus of his recent work lies in the security of explainable AI (XAI).
