Student Research Assistants in Responsible Data Engineering at DEEM Lab, Berlin

The DEEM Lab at BIFOLD conducts research in the field of Responsible Data Engineering, operating at the intersection of Data Engineering and Machine Learning. Our goal is to develop efficient data systems for AI and machine learning applications that are easy to use while also ensuring users' fundamental rights (such as the "right to be forgotten").

We are currently seeking two student assistants to support a research associate with tasks such as implementing research prototypes (for data validation, machine unlearning, feature stores, recommender systems) (70%), collecting, generating, and preparing training data (20%), and analyzing source code using large language models (10%).

The student assistants are also planned to be listed as co-authors on the resulting scientific publications.

Expected Qualifications

• Excellent knowledge in scalable data processing or machine learning

• Strong programming skills in Python or Java/C++/Rust

• Good knowledge of German and/or English required; willingness to acquire the missing language skills
