Lunch Talk - AI and the Humanities

Prof. Dr. Matteo Valleriani (Max Planck Institute for the History of Science/ BIFOLD Fellow) is an expert in the framework of Digital Humanities and his current research embeds approaches and techniques of Complex System Theory as well as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence technology within the historical studies. Dr. Oliver Eberle (TU Berlin/ BIFOLD - Machine Learning Group) is a postdoctoral researcher working in the Machine Learning Group at Technische Universität Berlin. His research focuses on explainable Artificial Intelligence (XA), Natural Language Processing, and applications to the Digital Humanities and Cognitive Science. Together with colleagues, he has worked on developing XAI methods for complex model structures, especially transformer architectures and higher-order explanations for similarity models and graph neural networks.
